Maiko Sushi means

The word “maiko” literally means “child of dance” and refers to a young apprentice geisha.

A Maiko is traditionally a girl aged 15–20 who is training to become a fully qualified geisha. The white makeup, elaborate kimono, and styled hair of Maiko dancers are widely recognized as symbols of the geisha.

“Maiko” is also a Japanese girl’s name.

MAKI

It is the most well-known type of sushi, and you can’t go wrong with it. The ingredients are wrapped in sushi rice, which is rolled in nori, a tasty seaweed.

NIGIRI

It is currently the most popular type of sushi in the world—a tasty mound of rice topped with an ingredient of your choice.

SASHIMI

They are delicious slices of raw fish. If you are a true gourmet of Asian flavors, we recommend sashimi.

URAMAKI

It is actually a “reverse” maki. The core with the ingredients is wrapped in nori and then in rice.

FUTOMAKI

It is an extra-large maki with multiple ingredients.

BENTOBOX

It is a traditional Japanese dining style consisting of several types of smaller dishes.

NUDLE

They are rice noodles.

SOBA

They are thin dark noodles made from buckwheat flour.

UDON

It is a pillar of Japanese cuisine, traditional udon noodles made from wheat flour
